This is exactly the same circuit as the Signature 20 scaled up to 40 Watts. The result is a very loud amplifier with tons of clean headroom. Meet the ultimate pedal platform.
The Signature 40 Series doesn't sound exactly like the Signature 20 Series. The addition of 6L6 power tubes along with transformers large enough for a 60W amplifier adds considerable girth and sparkle, giving the Signature 40 a unique sound all its own.
By tightening the bass and smoothing the treble frequencies we are able to improve upon the famous black face tone stack.
Upper middle frequencies are very slightly emphasized to help the amp sit better in the mix. Our Mid control has a broad sweep,
which allows you to dial in the classic scooped midrange common to black face amps, or pump it up for more midrange presence.
The amplifier also has superior "feel" due to its tube rectifier and modern class A bias.
Most of our amplifiers feature a Voltage control. This feature actually changes the operating voltages inside the amplifier just like a Variac. This changes the output volume of the amplifier better than any master volume. You can have the same tone at 2W that you have at 40W. Dial up your tone with the other controls and use the Voltage control to set the appropriate stage volume.
The Brilliance control is an ingenius feature that is something of a variable bright cap. If you like bright caps switched in, turn the control all the way up. If you don't, turn the control way down. If you wish you could have it somewhere in between, you know what to do.
We rounded out the Signature 40 with a passive series effects loop with the level set exactly half way between instrument and line level. This allows you to use both pedals and rack effects with the amplifier. The loop features true bypass when nothing is plugged in, so it gets completely out of the way if you don't want to use it.
The Signature 40R includes onboard tube-driven spring reverb. Voiced to be warm and full rather than bright, piercing and splashy, our reverb circuit is the lushest you will ever hear.
We know many guitarists take great pride in their collection of effects pedals. We had this in mind when we voiced the Signature Series amplifiers. The Signature 40 and Signature 40R take pedals very, very well.
Like all of our Relic™ amplifiers, the Signature 40 is studio quiet.
Relic™ amplifiers are hand-assembled using the finest components available at our factory in Frisco,
Texas. We hand-wire our amplifiers one at a time using heavy duty eyelet board contruction. Chassis are laser punched
at a local metal shop in Dallas, Texas. Transformers are 30% larger than spec and are made in the USA and Canada. Cabinets are
constructed with 13 ply voidless birch in St. Louis, Missouri. Relic™
